Delivery
information

Your 30-day supply of Foundayo tablets will be delivered via the Royal Mail Tracked 24 option.

If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, please accept it, check the contents, and contact our Patient Care team promptly.

Packaging may sometimes appear damaged due to transit or weather. This does not impact the medication condition or effectiveness. Contact us if you have any concerns.

Expiry date

Please check the expiry date of your medication before use.

The expiry date can be found on the carton and blister, after 'EXP', and refers to the last day of that month.

How to take Foundayo tablets

Always take this medicine exactly as your prescriber has told you.

  • Starting dose – 0.8mg once daily for at least 30 days. Your prescriber will then step you up gradually to 2.5mg, then 5.5mg, then, if needed, to 9mg, 14.5mg or 17.2mg — staying on each dose for at least 30 days before any increase. The maximum daily dose is 17.2mg.
  • Any time of day, with or without food – Foundayo doesn't need to be taken on an empty stomach and there's no 30-minute wait before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines.
  • Swallow whole – Take with a little water. Don't break, crush or chew the tablet, and don't take more than one tablet a day.
  • If you forget a dose – Take it as soon as you remember, then carry on as normal. Don't take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
  • If you take too much – Talk to your prescriber straight away. Taking too much can make you feel or be sick.
  • Don't stop without talking to your prescriber first – This matters in particular if you also have type 2 diabetes, as your blood sugar can rise if you stop suddenly.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Foundayo is light-sensitive – store it in its original packaging to protect it from light.

Do not use after the expiry date shown on the carton and blister.

Side effects

As with all medicines, side effects can occur when taking Foundayo, although not everyone gets them.

‍

‍Common: feeling sick (nausea), constipation, diarrhoea, being sick (vomiting), indigestion, and stomach pain.

‍

Dizziness, headache, a faster pulse, low blood pressure, bloating, burping, reflux/heartburn, wind, gallstones, hair loss, tiredness, and low blood sugar if you're also taking a sulfonylurea or insulin for diabetes.

‍

These are usually mild, most likely when starting treatment or after a dose increase, and tend to ease over time.

‍

‍A few things that can help: eat smaller, more frequent meals; avoid rich, fatty or very large meals; stay hydrated; and increase your dose gradually as directed.

‍

‍Uncommon: inflamed pancreas (pancreatitis) — this needs urgent medical attention; low blood sugar even without insulin or a sulfonylurea; changes in taste; and an unpleasant or abnormal feeling when touched.

‍Seek urgent medical advice if you have:

  • Severe or persistent pain in your stomach or back that doesn't go away (possible pancreatitis)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction — swelling of your face or throat, wheezing, a fast heartbeat, or feeling faint or dizzy
  • Sudden changes in your vision
  • Severe constipation, a swollen or very painful tummy, or being unable to pass wind or open your bowels (possible bowel obstruction)
  • Signs of dehydration, or reduced urination — these can be linked to kidney problems, especially after vomiting or diarrhoea

Before surgery or any procedure needing anaesthesia, tell your surgical or anaesthetic team you're taking Foundayo, as it can affect how your stomach empties.

If you're also taking insulin or a sulfonylurea, your prescriber may reduce that dose before you start Foundayo, as the combination can cause low blood sugar (signs include headache, drowsiness, shakiness, sweating, hunger and a fast heartbeat). Test your blood glucose as instructed if this applies to you.

Important information - interactions & contraception

Tell your prescriber about everything you take, including prescription medicines, anything you buy from the pharmacy, and any supplements. Foundayo slows down how quickly your stomach empties, which can change how well your body absorbs some other tablets, and a few specific medicines don't mix well with it.

  • Medicines that can increase the amount of Foundayo in your body: clarithromycin, itraconazole or ketoconazole, ritonavir or telaprevir.
  • Medicines that can reduce how well Foundayo works: e.g. carbamazepine, bosentan, efavirenz, rifampicin, phenytoin, and St John's Wort.
  • Medicines Foundayo can raise the level of in your blood: e.g. simvastatin and rosuvastatin (both used for cholesterol), and topotecan (a cancer treatment).

Your prescriber will check your list and sort out any changes — please don't stop or adjust anything yourself. ‍

If you take the contraceptive pill:

Foundayo can make the pill less reliable, because it can affect how well the pill is absorbed. To stay protected, either switch to a non-pill method of contraception, or use condoms as a backup:

  • for 30 days after you start Foundayo, and
  • for 30 days after each time your dose goes up.

Talk to your prescriber or pharmacist about the best option for you.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Don't take Foundayo if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding — the effects on an unborn child aren't known, and it isn't known whether orforglipron passes into breast milk. If there's any chance you could become pregnant, use reliable contraception while taking it. If you're planning to try for a baby, talk to your prescriber first — you'll need to stop taking Foundayo at least 3 weeks before trying to conceive.

Disposal

Do not throw away your tablets via wastewater or household waste. You can dispose of unwanted medicine at your local pharmacy. These measures help protect the environment.
